Weight Management

Supporting your pet’s journey with our weight management program.

Contact Us

Obesity is a growing concern among dogs and cats. Even if they’re only a few pounds overweight, they could be at a much greater risk of developing some serious medical conditions, such as diabetes. Our weight loss program not only supports your dog or cat with their weight loss but ensures they’re able to maintain a healthier lifestyle.

What weight management plans do you provide?

We want to see all of our patients achieve and maintain their ideal weight so that they can enjoy long healthy lives. Our veterinary team can determine the number of calories your dog or cat should be consuming daily to achieve their ideal weight. We will also explore their lifestyle, breed, age and current health to determine what types of exercise, and at what frequency and intensity level, would be the best fit. We also recommend making a change to how much and how often you’re feeding your dog or cat. For instance, switching from one or two large meals daily to several smaller meals throughout the day can boost the metabolism and promote a healthier weight. To learn more about our Weight Loss Program, please contact us at 613-247-0013.

What happens after my dog or cat starts the program?

Once on the program, we recommend that you bring your dog or cat in frequently to have them weighed and assess their progress. If we’re not seeing the desired results, we can adjust our approach accordingly until we successfully help your dog or cat achieve its goal. By reaching that optimum weight, and more importantly – maintaining it over time, your dog or cat is much more likely to live many happy, healthy years by your side. If your dog or cat is overweight, we invite you to start a discussion about this complimentary service. Our experienced team can help you determine if the Weight Loss Program is right for your dog or cat.
